Corrective Jaw Surgery

Jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery) is needed when jaws don’t meet correctly and/or teeth don’t seem to fit with the jaw. The teeth are straightened with orthodontics and corrective jaw surgery repositions a misaligned jaw.

Reconstructive jaw surgery is performed in a hospital setting and requires a one to two day stay. In addition to the obvious functional benefit, many patients experience a cosmetic improvement of their facial appearance. Orthognathic surgery is covered under the medical health plan and prior to any treatment, it is recommended that the surgeon obtain a medical pre-authorization for the surgery.
